Today’s theme is men and addiction. We look at how addiction is often cloaked in secrecy, because we as men are taught to avoid admitting and showing weakness or failure. This episode suggests it is ok to struggle, ok to ask for help, and none of us are alone in our struggles.
Jack Grisham is the singer for the punk bank TSOL, which stands for True Sounds of Liberty. TSOL started in 1979 and was part of the Los Angles punk scene along with Black Flag, the Circle Jerks and Bad Religion. TSOL still tours to this day. Grisham is also an author. His book An American Dream: A memoir, conveys anger and truth of his experience from his point of view as a seminal member of the American Punk movement. His newest book is A Principle of Recovery: An Unconventional Journey through the 12 steps, as the title suggests about recovering from addiction and the myths and misconceptions of what it is to live in recovery.
