Dr. Yellowbird, Ph.D. is a citizen of three affiliated tribes, Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara.  He is currently a Professor and Director of the Tribal Indigenous Studies program at North Dakota State University. His teaching, writing, research, and community work focus on Indigenous Peoples’ health, leadership, and cultural rights; the effects of colonization, neuro-decolonization and mind body approaches to counter-acting these. He is has written widely on decolonization and Indigenous peoples and was one of the principle editors of the book For Indigenous Eyes only: A Decolonization Handbook.
